New Electric Vehicles for sale near Oakland, CA

Our new Kia electric and hybrid models

The new Kia EV6 electric and the new Kia Niro hybrid are now available at Oakland Kia in Oakland CA. Both run with some measure of electric power and both bring some of the advantages that you already appreciate in Kia's more familiar, more proven gasoline-powered models. Here's an overview of these two new Kia SUVs and what buyers from Marin County and San Leandro, CA can expect when you book one of these two models for a test drive.

The new 2023 Kia EV6 Overview

The new Kia EV6 is the corporate twin of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and comes with its own unique exterior. Rear-wheel drive comes standard and all-wheel drive is an available option with a larger, more expensive battery pack. The new Kia EV6 competes with other fully-electric rivals like the Volkswagen ID 4.

Kia EV6 power and performance

The new Kia EV6 comes with either a single electric motor that's mounted on the rear axle in rear-wheel drive models or with the electric motors on both the front and rear for all-wheel drive configurations. The all-wheel drive options come with a larger battery pack and deliver either 320 horsepower or 576 horsepower. The base rear-wheel drive model has a smaller battery and only 167 horsepower. The 320-horsepower GT-Line version can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. With rear-wheel drive, the new Kia EV6 takes 6.7 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Kia EV6 range and charging times

The new Kia EV6 gives you a choice of two batteries: a 58.0-killowatt version and a 77.4-kilowatt battery pack. The smaller standard battery gives you a range of 232 miles while the bigger long-range battery provides a range of 310 miles. That compares with the comparable Kia CX-5 gas-powered model that can take you 412 miles on a full tank of gas, so you'd need to live with about a 33% shorter driving range. It takes up to 8.9 hours to recharge the new Kia EV6 with a 220-volt battery so that's another adjustment if you like the convenience of a 5-minute fill up at widely-available gas stations.

The new 2023 Kia Niro Overview

The Kia Niro has been redesigned for 2023 and comes with two rows of seating and standard front-wheel drive. Fuel efficiency is excellent and the new Kia Niro gives buyers from Walnut Creek and Vallejo, CA a choice of either a standard hybrid model or a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Powertrains, performance and charging time

The redesigned 2023 Kia Niro hybrid SUV is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to deliver 139 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid powertrain gives you a more powerful electric motor to create a combined 180 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid can run from zero to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds while the standard hybrid takes 8.9 seconds. When connected to a Level 2 charger, the plug-in battery takes about 2.5 hours to recharge.
